COS and Fiberspark Press Release (Designated Editor)

ITHACA, NEW YORK – COS Service Zones have taken on a little more fiber into their diet…Internet service provider, Fiberspark, utilizes COS Service Zones to optimize their business and assist with their expansion.

Founder and CEO of Fiberspark, Jeff Shaffer, hopes COS’s support will “bring modern connectivity to more people, faster.” Fiberspark seeks to end the stagnation of incumbent providers and replace Internet service with a fiber-to-the-home business model. In order to achieve this goal, Fiberspark needed a way to aggregate demand in order perform effectively and secure financing.

To better understand the market demand, Service Zones created a highly detailed survey for Fiberspark customers. In fact, Shaffer explained his satisfaction in collecting such “fine-grain detail” about consumer demand in a specific geographical location. The information that the Service Zones provide, allow Fiberspark to respond quickly in regards to planning and return on investment.

Equally pleased about the new partnership, COS’ Chief Marketing Officer comments, “Service Zones works toward enabling small enterprises to compete with incumbent providers. A small startup company like Fiberspark is exactly what we need.”

The telecommunications industry in the United States is falling behind other developing countries due to the consolidation of DSL Internet. With the cable monopoly as consumers’ only Internet option, data caps are implemented and upload speeds are increasing. Service Zones works to eliminate this problem by mapping out exactly how to deploy a network for optimal success. As Shaffer said, “If you are building a FTTH solution, you can’t afford to not aggregate demand beforehand and the best solution out there is Service Zones.”

About COS Service Zones

“Build it, and they will come?” Now, there’s a better way to roll-out fiber – with committed customers. No more deploying from one end of town to the other – then chasing customers.

  1. Draw multiple competing zones across your city or town.
  2. See demand build in real-time as customers signup using your branded website.
  3. Deploy once target take rate is reached to accelerate profitability.

Our mission: Community-supported, successful fiber, and no more failed projects. COS Service Zones™ brings broadband to homes all across the U.S. Let’s discover the demand in your community.

Mock Press Release for Under Armour

UNDER ARMOUR TAKES OVER GRAND CENTRAL STATION

Under Armour Plans Surprise Flash Mob in Grand Central Station on May 20th

New York, NY, May 21, 2013 – “A horse of a different color” became a well-known phenomenon from the Wizard of Oz, but what will people make of “a man of a different color?”  Under Armour will promote their new color-changing ControlGear® Energy Suit by hosting a surprise performance in Grand Central Station on Wednesday, May 20th, 2013.

Colors, lights, music, and dancers will all be in affect at 8 a.m. in Grand Central Station followed by a press conference at 10 a.m. at the Campbell Apartment.  A mix between a flash mob and a light show, Under Armour plans to have a music conductor appear as though he is controlling the performances around him, while displaying some of the new features that accompany the futuristic apparel.  Emphasizing the idea of being in control, the music conductor, standing on the balcony, will be able to point to a dancer and “magically” change its color as well as the lights and music around him.

The ControlGear® Energy Suit, to be released in stores on June 2nd, has several new features to better equip athletes to train or compete.

The new innovative technology will give athletes the ability to adjust the temperature and color of the suit by using the built-in touch screen, located on the sleeve.  The suit will be able to monitor the athlete’s heart rate as well.  Therefore, the suit can be customized to fit the athletes desired outcome.  The color changing ability will eliminate the hassle of buying multiple Under Armour items.  If an athlete needs to wear green for a home game or pink to support breast cancer, then they will be able to do so with just a tap on the wrist.

Under Armour has also incorporated new technology to help muscles recover faster.  When exercising, muscle fibers get damaged making the athlete sore.  Water then invades the muscles, causing them to swell.  The ControlGear® Energy Suit has the ability to push that water out, so the muscles heal faster.

The ControlGear® Energy Suit will also incorporate the benefits of previous Under Armour apparel such the second-skin compression fit that hugs the body to help eliminate post workout fatigue.  CEO Kevin Plank said, “This is the most innovative, efficient, and technologically advanced piece of clothing that the world has seen thus far, it’s a must-have for all serious athletes.”

Under Armour is an American sports clothing and accessories company, which mainly focuses on hi-tech sportswear for professional and collegiate athletes.  The company was founded by Kevin Plank in 1996 and has since spread globally, always keeping up their motto, “making athletes better, one great innovation at a time.”

Midland Zoo Polar Bear Dies

A 16-year-old polar bear has died of unknown causes this morning at the Midland Zoo.

Midland Zoo employees are determined to find the cause of death. “We will do everything in our power to determine how this bear died.” said Zoo Director Chris P. Bacon. “Animal welfare and the preservation of species are our primary goals here at the zoo.”

Homer, the oldest bear at the zoo, was found dead at 7 a.m. in the morning.  A necropsy will be performed to determine the bear’s death but results will not be available for several weeks. As an extra precaution, the two other bears have been removed from the exhibit and are being monitored by veterinary staff.

All employees were saddened to hear about the death of the beloved polar bear.  “Homer was a very curious and playful polar bear and we will miss him terribly.” said Zoo Keeper Sara N. Getty.

Polar Bears have thrived at the zoo since 1985.  We are pleased to know that our unique exhibit allowed bears, like Homer, to engage in natural behaviors, play in manufactured snow, dig in gravel and hunt trout in the chilled pool.

We will also be creating a fund in Homer’s name to help protect the Natural Wildlife Conservation.  To donate, please go to http://www.midlandzoo.com/wildlife/homer
